What to Include on Your Website’s About Me Page
While you want visitors to focus on the services you offer and how to get in touch with you, your About Me page is just as important.
To grow your personal brand, you need to build trust, and your About Me page helps do that.
The main goal of your About Me page should be to share your story. This doesn’t mean your general bio either. Your About Me copy should include information on your history, who you are, and why you do what you do. For example, when writing about yourself, refer to a period of major transformation and how it is linked to what you do today.
About Me Page Tips
- Link everything to your story. Along with creating engaging copy that your audience will resonate with, make sure that all other elements connect to your story too. This is especially true when it comes to your visuals. If you want people to take your brand seriously, make sure you have a set of professional photos and visuals that you can use across all platforms. A personal branding photographer can help you tell your story visually, while you take care of the copy.
- Create a tagline. To grab a visitor’s attention and draw them into your personal story, create an eye-catching banner with a tagline. You can even use some of your personal branding photos on the banner – people want to find out who you are after all.
- Format your content to highlight important information. What is that you want your readers to pay attention to? Bold or format key words or sentences to ensure they pop out. This is especially useful considering most people only scan web pages.
- Don’t forget the hook. Even though you want to tell your story, your About Me copy is still an elevator pitch of sorts. Don’t forget to highlight what you bring to the table and why you do what you do. How can you help a customer with a pain point or need?
- Tell them what to do next. Don’t let a visitor leave without taking action. Your About Me page should always have a call to action. You can either direct them to your contact page or even encourage them to sign up for your newsletters – just make sure they take some sort of action that you can both benefit from.
By taking these simple steps, you can get your About Me page to work for you.
